Blessed Winter Solstice!

Even though the sun was not up in the sky, visitors to the UK landmark, Stonehenge, still caught a lovely glimpse of shades of blue and orange during 2008's observance of Winter Solstice.

According to the UK's Guardian, "Hundreds of druids, pagans and tourists braved the gloomy weather to gather at Stonehenge on Sunday morning to celebrate the winter solstice. The mystical stones attracted a crowd of 1,900 people, with some dressed in cloaks and robes, to see sunrise at the prehistoric site in Wiltshire."

The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year. The return of the Sun on this auspicious morning is also still celebrated by many people around the world!
